Computer Systems and Digital Marketing Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Computer Systems & Digital Marketing Specialist to join our small team at our downtown Portland office. We are the Merchants Exchange, a 140-year-old organization that plays a pivotal role in the Columbia River Maritime Industry.
This position is responsible for supporting the organization’s technical resources (IT), implementing internal & external membership and marketing communication platforms, and developing & facilitating relevant content. This position is unique in that it provides technological support for staff and client associations and is also responsible for developing marketing, communication, and website content for the organization.
Job duties include:
Computer Systems
• Coordinate the development and implementation of the website and website services programs.
•Maintain and ensure software and application programs for all Exchange computer systems are functional.
•Ensure adequate functionality of computer systems, application technical support, and effective troubleshooting guidance for staff. Provide technical support to guest speakers for presentations and events, both online and in-person.
•Serve as first point of escalation for common technology issues for staff such as password resets, account activation/deactivation, and other technical situations.
Marketing
•Responsible for developing marketing, communication, and website content for the Exchange and coordination for Exchange Managed Associations including drafting, formatting, and designing media in various forms.
• Review content and provide recommendations to ensure a unified brand front by facilitating consistency in messaging communication materials throughout the organization across all business lines. Champion the company brand identity across all developed materials
Membership & Association Support
• Recruit guest speakers and applicable content/materials for all professional education activities, including live and online.
• Coordinate meetings and facilities arrangements. Identify and reserve appropriate locations for training sessions, seminars, and conferences.
• Prepare marketing material as appropriate for uploading to the website and other digital distribution methods.
• Produce and distribute newsletters, reports, statistics reports, and bulletins as appropriate.
This position requires:
• Minimum two years of experience in technical writing and/or in a content development role.
• Minimum one year of experience in each of the following: email and social media marketing, marketing analytics and customer relationship management (CRM) software, and website management.
• Minimum two years of experience using design software to develop digital content and imagery to support marketing efforts.
• Experience installing and maintaining computer hardware, printers, scanners, etc.
• Ability to effectively problem solve and be solution oriented.
• Experience troubleshooting software access issues, permissions, and system challenges in a patient, diligent manner.
• Proficiency in basic networking & VPN troubleshooting for users.
• Ability to pivot or change tasks quickly and often on short notice to resolve technical issues.
• Strong, effective interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong writing skills.
Associate or Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field to job duties (e.g., computer science, marketing, communications, business, etc.) is preferred, but not required.
This position works full-time, Monday-Friday at our office in downtown Portland. Employer-paid parking in the underground parking garage is available.
This position has a starting compensation range of $27-$32 per hour depending on experience and is eligible for overtime. The Exchange employs a competitive strategy for regular performance appraisals which aligns with opportunity for growth.
