We seek a professional, knowledgeable, Accounting Manager for a regular, full-time position. The essential responsibilities for the Accounting Manager may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- • Actively support the Port’s mission and vision and demonstrate values consistently.
- • Actively participates as a team player with all port employees.
- Participates as a member of the port leadership team; contributes to development of port vision, strategic plan, and operational strategies.
- • Supervise and mentor a diverse accounting team, fostering an inclusive environment that encourages collaboration and professional growth. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in alignment with the Port’s compensation and performance management policies, including interviewing, hiring, training, and developing staff.
- • Oversee and ensure the accuracy of financial transactions, maintaining and reconciling general ledgers, journals, and special records. Ensure compliance with all applicable accounting standards and practices, including GASB and GAAP.
- • As Deputy Auditor, leads efforts to ensure clean audit results, maintaining robust internal controls and auditing departmental accounting data for accuracy.
- • Guide the team in effectively utilizing and transitioning ERP systems, leveraging the latest technology to enhance financial processes and reporting.
- • Oversee the preparation and control of budgets, ensuring proper allocation and utilization of resources. Maintain documentation and compliance for grant administration and manage fixed asset inventory systems.
- • Work effectively as a team player across all levels of the organization, providing clear and actionable feedback. Ensure transparent and effective communication both within the team and with other departments.
- • Proactively seek opportunities to enhance current processes or procedures, presenting solutions that align with the organization’s goals.
- • Develops relationships with local governmental agencies, port networks, statewide associations and professional organizations to produce strategic alliances, professional networks and interagency opportunities.
- • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting from an accredited university. An advanced degree is preferred, but not required.
Experience: 5+ years of accounting management experience with supervisory responsibilities.
- • Proven success in managing clean audits and maintaining strong internal controls.
- • Knowledge of budgeting, cash management, BARS, and Washington State sales, excise, leasehold tax, and grant management.
- • Experience with ERP systems and financial software, with a focus on leveraging new technology.

Salary Range: $99,598 – $147,152 annually
